With the 2005 hurricane damage as a tough learning experience now behind us, SNA has established the SNA Industry Disaster Preparedness Program designed to encourage our industry member firms to better prepare for times of such emergencies. The new program will include education materials or events, electronic systems for networking during times of such need, as well as showcasing new equipment such as Power Generation, Satellite Phones, and other products and services needed for such preparedness planning.
Be sure to look for new vendors of these products at the SNA Trade Show, or in the SNA Exhibitor Search online! The networking portion of this program is expected to assist the industry in identifying needs, expected to be in the form of loaned equipment (generators, pumps, chain saws, etc.) and labor (donated crews) to help get nurseries back up and running and thereby saving plant inventories, other support through monetary contributions can also be used to purchase needed supplies identified by SNA.

SNA Announces Support for Green Industry Emergency Plan WebSite
As part of the Disaster Preparedness Program, SNA has agreed to support the Green Industry Emergency Plan website, a project developed this past year by Auburn University and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, with support Southern Region Risk Management Education Center (RMA). Here's an overview of the site:Developed to assist you in planning for business continuity through disasters, this is the Green Industry Emergency Plan Web site. You will find a collection of resources that will help you prepare a personalized emergency management plan to minimize production downtime and financial losses and ensure the resumption of operations after a disaster. You will also find quick links to federal and state resources as well as a place to chat with your colleagues throughout the region.
You can develop your plan on-line and even store it right here so your records are readily accessible, or print it out for easy reference. Storing the plan here gives you a secure safety net.
